Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi have been lucky enough to receive a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to create a Vets, Pets and Pupils Garden. 

Having received feedback from local veterans’ groups and armed forces families, we discovered that the drop in community groups following the Covid 19 pandemic, had caused feelings of increased isolation in local people. We have also been working with Cariad Therapy Dogs and, having seen the positive impact pet therapy has had on pupils at the school, we hoped to be able to help offering this kind of service to the community at large.

With this in mind and with help from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, we have created a school garden, which will be used to hold events for local armed forces families and maintained with the help of service children and local veterans’ groups.

We hope to have the garden up and running by next spring and please keep an eye on our website and social media for further details.
